Miss M is Five, lest we forget!

M's birthday cake requests are much simpler. I can do girlie dots!

M is so happy to be five. She has been waiting forever.

Now we are battling the problem every late-in-the-year birthday kid has--"why can't I go to kindergarten now?" Finally, we have hit upon a solution that she understands--kindergarten starts after the summer. She will definitely be ready when the time comes. She loves preschool. She is learning so much about letter sounds, numbers (including what happens when numbers plus), and the world around her. She loves to sing and dance and enjoys her dance class where each week she gets to dress up like a different Disney princess and act out the story.

One thing M does not like is to be alone. If the big kids are not home, she will follow me around wherever I go. She is happy to be near me, doing something else, but near me. She is, by far, the most social member of the family, which makes sense, since she was born into a built in party! We can't imagine life without her and her fancy dancy ways. Happy Day M!

Bam Bam He's our Man!

Bam is seven. I can't see how this is actually possible since it was just yesterday we carried him home from the hospital. But he is big. He is in first grade, vying for "love muffin" status each week in school, reading, doing killer math and channeling the powers and personas of nearly ever superhero in existence. So it is no surprise, really that he chose an Iron Man cake for his birthday. He is the child most believing in my (non-existant) artistic abilities when it comes to cake decoration. I did my best and was just happy he could recognize the Man and that he was happy with the result. Perhaps it's a good thing that he has such a believing heart, because he can always see what he envisioned in the reality I have been able to create.

I think it was a little more difficult this year than most to recognize the subject of the cake. But he's still happy, so we'll go with it.

Bam has a killer smile and a love for all things cuddly, especially pandas. He is still captivating an ever growing collection of grown women, from his teachers, to his friends' moms, to the stylists where we get our hair cut. No one seems immune to that smile.

Happy Birthday big boy! We love you!
