Bam is learning about letters and the sounds they make in preschool. This week was "R" week. He came home and said "Mom! R says ruh ruh ruh Bunny!" It took me a minute to follow his train of thought and see that he had jumped to the conclusion that if Rabbit started with r, then so should Bunny. And that got me thinking . . . . How often do I do the same thing? Jump to conclusions; try to balance unbalanceable eternal equations, because 2+2 does NOT equal 5.
My mission president was big on obedience. He spoke eloquently and often about how much the Lord wants to bless us but that He is bound by the Law of Obedience (D&C 130:19-21) that blessings come because of our obedience. That kind of simple math is viable in so many areas of my life. Nothing for breakfast, oreos for lunch and Cafe Rio for dinner do not give me energy for the 6am run the next day and they don't give me happy numbers on the bathroom scale. Blog surfing until 11pm before the same 6am run does not yield a rested, patient happy mommy the next day.
The math is easy, but executing sound decisions is not. Perhaps if I thought about it more in terms of balance--like those Chem equations that always gave me headaches--things would go better.

Sound advice, and an excellent picture of Bam.
Nicely put. I also keep thinking about something you posted awhile back where you said "we all have 24 hours a day. we all have down time. We can't go full speed for 24 hours. It's just a matter of recognizing our down time and using it well...making sure it actually replenishes us instead of stealing away energy. It also might help me with figuring out better equations for my life too.
