Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Haven't you heard? Did you forget? God is everlastingly on your side. He doesn't get tired and those that wait on Him will have the strength needed to fly.
Years ago, when we still had TV, I would occasionally see an ad for Christian music. One of the lyrics stuck with me and pops up into my head on days like this:
Our God is an awesome God(Rich Mullins songwriter)
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God
I was a teen in the eighties, when awesome became a generic term, much like amazing has become now. My seminary teacher didn't like that such a powerful word had lost its thunder and now, so many years later, I understand his dismay. The dictionary definition of awesome is "inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence admiration or fear." We are in such desperate need of this awesome God we have. I am so truly overwhelmed by reverence and admiration. He gives us strength; He holds us up. He wants us to fly.
