"Z . . . did it!"

Things were too quiet when I awoke this morning from the congestion stupor of a bad night with a cold. Quiet is sadly not a good sound in a house with my boys after 7 am. I walked into the office and saw first hair on the keyboard and was met by my dear almost 5 son's words "Z did it!" (never a good start to a morning) This was the result:

Though it's thankfully a bit difficult to tell from this picture, he really did cut a mouthful chunk out of the middle of his hair.

Now I say thankfully difficult to tell because we have a photographer coming this afternoon to take professional portraits of the 3 preschoolers. I finally decided not to cancel because next time would just be something else, and probably someday in my dotage I will enjoy memories of the impromptu pre-breakfast haircut of my son, well maybe. But at the very least, his grandmothers should have commemorated his charming personality, haircut and all, as it is now. Don't you think?

Nice! :) I caught T the other day with scissors in his hand. I thought I got there before he cut anything off, but I did find a lock of hair down the back of his shirt later on. Luckily with his mop of hair, it wasn't noticeable. :)

And CW's hair experimentation will definitely make the pictures more memorable! :)

Ah the joys of children and scissors!! I do recall a lovely chunk out of Hayden's hair but he did it to himself so no one else could be blamed. He of course did it where he could see it...right smack in the front. Needless to say he traveled to the barber that day!!

When I was quite a bit older than "Z" (probably at least 10) I decided that I could cut hair as well as any professional, so I decided to give my younger sister a "professional" haircut. I cut it just like the hair stylists do, but for some reason, it didn't turn out the way I thought it should. My mom was not happy!

Why do such things always seem to happen on either a special occasion or when you have something like a professional portrait planned?
