Some time with Walt

The last time we went to Disneyland, Bam looked like this:


Yeah, it's been a while since we visited the happiest place on earth. Vacations are not an easy thing for our family of late. Even on trips that we plan for more than a year, like the family reunion last summer, DH usually ends up having some dire deadline that has him feverishly typing away in the car, in the hotel room, or on the phone and otherwise not "with" us. That doesn't really work for Disneyland; it's really a whole body experience and definitely not the sort of place I want to go with the five overexcited kidlets on my own. So, we have waited.

DH turns 40 on Thursday. He had a trial beginning this week, and then it settled, so guess what? We are about to go to Disneyland!!! When we told the kids Saturday night, M put on her shoes and walked to the door. She sobbed and sobbed when we told her not yet. Every morning since then, the question has been "Now? princesses now?" Soon. The kids are so excited that they have been pouring over disney.com planning and choosing, hoping and dreaming. Everyone has been measured to determine who can ride which rides. We have made lists of snacks and purchased many of them. We have evaluated footwear and the weather. The trip is almost here and we are all so very excited.

One thing we are not packing, though, is diapers. I have never been to Disney without diapers or the need of a pack n play. This is weird. We really only need one stroller--and even then, more for it's storage capacity than for M's dire need of transportation. We are aging as a family and I am not so sure how I feel about it.
